Since late last year (December 2014), the Southborough Housing Opportunity Partnership
Committee (SHOPC) has been very busy.
Working with a consultant and the town planner the Affordable Housing Plan was updated and submitted to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for approval.
SHOPC also recently went before the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Committee to request funds to purchase an affordable house for sale located at 26 Gilmore Road. The idea is for the Town to take control of the process by working with a lottery agent to sell the house to a qualified buyer. The house will remain on the Subsidized Housing Inventory with the state counting towards the 10% requirement for affordable housing. Stay tuned more information to follow.
