At the August 5, 2015 meeting, SHOPC met with family members from Capasso Farm to discuss the possibility of partnering with the Town on a project that could include housing, open space and a commercial component where the existing store is. SHOPC discussed many tools that could be used such as partnering with the town to do a friendly 40B or a Developer Agreement which is an agreement between the Town and the Developer (Capasso Family) which could allow for a project such as a cluster development with open space.
The discussion was very informal and a first step to further discussions and possibilities. This project could involve not only the public but boards and committees such as Community Preservation Committee, Planning, Open Space Preservation Commission, Conservation Commission, Affordable Housing Trust Fund Committee, Economic Development Committee and the Board of Selectmen. SHOPC has volunteered to facilitate further discussions.
